Have you found freedom yet?

Have you found freedom yet? John 8:1-11

Jesus was teaching a crowd of people at the temple when the religious leaders (scribes and Pharisees) brought a woman who they accused of adultery and put her in the midst of them. They proceeded to tell Jesus that this woman had been caught in the very act of adultery and according to the law of Moses she should be stoned to death. They asked Jesus, “What do You say?”

Jesus stooped down, not responding to their question, and started writing on the ground. Jesus knew that the motives of the religious leaders was to find something that they could use to accuse Him of false teaching and prove to the people that He was not sent by God. Would He tell them to follow the law and have her stoned? If so, where was the love of God that He preached? Or would He tell them that God loves her, forgives her, and disobeys the law of Moses by not having her stoned? They kept asking Jesus their question and He finally responded. “He who is without sin, throw the first stone.”

Slowly, as their consciences convicted them, each one left and only the woman and Jesus were left. Jesus stood up and asked the woman, “Where are your accusers? Has anyone condemned you?” She answered, “No one Lord.” He responded, “And neither do I, go and sin no more.”

Jesus was the only one in that crowd that had no sin and would be justified in stoning her, but He came to save the lost, bring liberty to the captives, and freedom to those enslaved to sin. The Word in John 8:36 says “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Without Jesus, we are slaves to sin. When we receive Him as Lord and Savior, we are set free and have the privileges and rights of a child of God. Addictions, depression, bad habits, negative emotions, and anything enslaving has to bow to the name of Jesus and His Word. Whatever has a hold on you, even a negative mindset, you can be free from it. Find the scriptures or the promises in God’s Word for your physical or emotional healing, your challenges, and believe that you receive God’s promises. John 8:32 says “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Choose freedom today, by receiving Jesus as your Lord and Savior and continue to seek truth through the Word of God! (Isaiah 61:1, Romans 8:2)
