Jesus Our Rock: Matthew 7:21-29

2

Jesus Our Rock

Jesus used many word pictures and stories in His teachings to help people understand. He said if you listen and follow His teachings you are wise. You are like a person who builds their house on a solid rock foundation. When the torrential rains and gusty winds beat on your house and floodwaters rise, your house still stands. Whereas a foolish person is one who builds their house on sand and when the storms and floodwaters come their house falls apart and comes crashing down.

To build a house on a foundation of rock is considerably harder and takes longer than building one on the sand. When your life is built on the foundation of Jesus Christ, our solid rock, the Word of God, you can weather the storms of life and not collapse. No matter what challenge, temptation, fear, or desperate situation you are in, Jesus can carry you through. By reading, studying, and believing the Word of God and praying, you will build a strong foundation and grow in Christ. Spend time with the One who loves you and cares about everything in your life. (Psalms 18:2; Psalms 62:2; I Cor. 3:11: John 3:16)

Personal Development Tip of the Week:

I challenge you this week to ask yourself each day, “what are the 2-3 things I need to accomplish that If I get them done I can be proud of this day?”

Remember the quality of your questions determines the quality of your life so ask yourself this question each day before you start your day. You can also plan this the night before so you won't have to think about what you have to do when you wake up.

Once you decide what these things are, commit to get them done, and take negotiating this commitment off the table!

Let’s make it a practice this week to not negotiate the things we know we should do each day to keep progressing our lives. Remember, it’s not about the destination but who you are becoming along the way. When you can understand that you start enjoying the process of who you are becoming each day personally and spiritually!

Prayer for the week:

Dear Heavenly Father, I am praying over this individual's week ahead. I pray that they remember they are strong, healthy, wealthy, and wise capable of doing all things through Christ which strengthens them in Jesus name amen!
