Week 7: Jesus is Willing to Heal You

1

Jesus is willing to heal you: Matthew 8:1-4

Jesus had just spoken to a large crowd of people and was walking down a mountain when he was approached by a leper. The leper came and worshipped Jesus saying, “Lord if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

Then Jesus put out His hand and touched the leper, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately the leper was cleansed and all of his leprosy was gone. Jesus told him not to tell anyone, but go show himself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.

Leprosy was a horrible contagious flesh-eating disease and those who were lepers had to live in isolation from their families. Jewish law required that people stay at least 6 feet away from them and no one was allowed to touch them. This leper believed that Jesus could heal him through his words and his action. He approached Jesus in humility and respect calling Him Lord and worshipping Him. He acknowledged that Jesus could cleanse/heal him if He were willing.

Jesus, not only said He was willing, but He also put His hand out and touched him. Jesus’ word and touch brought total healing. Today we have God’s written Word in the Bible and promises of healing. Speak healing over your body and mind each day using the Word of God.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases…” (Psalm 103:1-2)

Personal Development Tip Of The Week: “Mental Toughness”

  • Mental toughness is a measure of an individual's resilience that predicts success in school, sports, work, etc.

  • Mental toughness is much more about persistence not how intense or tough you try to make things. Just like our journey as Christians, we will be faced with many challenges and if we can continue to persist forward in faith we can become mentally tough to get through any challenge.

  • Scripture to reflect on: Galatians 6:9 - And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Prayer for the week:

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray right now that you fill us up with your Holy Spirit as we step into this new week. Bless us to not lean on our own understanding but to trust in you because you know the plans for us. I pray for your protection over our lives and our families this week lord and pray that you open new doors of opportunity for us in Jesus name amen!
